German Chocolate Cakes were a craze in 1950s America and remain popular today. Not German in origin, the cake gets its name from a brand of baking chocolate used in the original recipe.

Our version delivers three layers of light chocolate cake filled with a blend of pecans and coconut, topped with thick, rich fudge icing and more pecans and coconut. To protect the fudge icing during the warm months we do add chocolate cake crumbs along the outside of this cake.

Seven-inch cake serves 6-8.
