What are some of your favorite food-related memories from your childhood?

A lot of my food memories surround my grandmother, who was a master baker and made traditional Polish dishes for our family. One summer we spent all day picking raspberries in Northern Michigan, then we came back to our cottage and she taught us all how to make raspberry pies. She’d take the leftover pieces of crust, brush them with butter, and sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar. Then we’d bake them and she’d let us eat the little crust-cookies while we waited for the pies to cool.
What is your all-time favorite dessert?

In my book, nothing can beat a good mint chocolate chip ice cream or ice cream sundae, preferably with Sander’s hot fudge.

Do you have a signature dish? If so, what is it?

My Maker’s Mark Bourbon Pecan Brownies are killer. They use just a half cup of all-purpose gluten free flour, so they’re really dense. The topping is gooey and nutty, and they keep really well in the freezer.

Tell us your childhood memories of desserts you enjoyed as a child.

Our family’s favorite dessert is a layered jello “salad” that my grandmother used to make. She would stay up all night making sure that the layers were perfect, and as a kid it seemed like magic when she would cut into it and serve  up the rainbow slices. Topped with whipped cream, it’s one of the few desserts from childhood that I can eat without making any substitutions, so I still love it!
